Legend has it that on 24th December 1955, a Sears department store placed an ad in a Colorado Springs newspaper with a telephone number kids could ring to speak to Santa. However, the number was misprinted and actually connected callers to the Continental Air Defense Command, now known as the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
On duty that night was Colonel Harry Shoup, who told his staff to give all children who called in a “current location” for Santa Claus. And so, a Christmas Eve tradition was born…
Now in its 60th year and a popular global event, the NORAD Tracks Santa program has moved with the times and embraced digital technology. Children can track Santa on the website, via social media and through a mobile app as he leaves the North Pole and delivers presents around the world.
There’s a good chance we’ll be on the East Anglian rooftops installing or repairing aerials and satellites this Christmas, so we’ll be tracking Santa to make sure we’re not in his way when he climbs down your chimney.
Don’t Let Your TV Aerial Ruin Santa’s Christmas
Not only would a compact, new digital aerial ensure your reception is crystal clear for the Queen’s Speech and all the other festive TV highlights, you’d also avoid disrupting Santa’s busy schedule by tangling his sleigh in a load of old analogue gubbins!
If you’d like to discuss TV aerial or satellite installation and maintenance, please get in touch with us on 01473 716976 or use the contact form on our website. We’re also available for emergency call-outs over the festive period.
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Prosperous New Year!
